salutations from kenya

hey whats up man?
im just chillin in kenya and thought id say whats up. ive been here two weeks now and wont be back for another couple weeks. i just finished up volunteering in a health clinic and teaching at an understaffed elementary school. i gotta give teachers some credit, there job is so much harder than i thought. (kudos to you kelly) the kids here are nice- respectful at least but they all have runny noses that they never wipe.
im staying with a host family. i have a hole in the ground for a toilet and i shower with a bucket of warm water. so many things here remind me of the mission. except im only here for a little more than a month. boo yeah. my friends and i are the only white people for miles and miles around, we get stared at non stop.
so next week we go to tanzania to hike kilimanjaro and then back to nairobi for a safari and then home again home. i crave cafe rio and homemade ice cream like crazy.
keep the peace

At least I am not the only one in the "family" that has food cravings :) I must admit that after reading your post that a salad from Cafe Rio sounded sooo good that we went and ate there-sorry to rub it in Jess! Thanks for the "kudos" to teachers also! I have nothing to complain about 'cause I LOVE my job, but sometimes when I hear people say that teachers have it easy I want to make them work in my classroom for just one day to put them in their place! Anyways, it sounds like you're having a good experience in Africa!! That's awesome that you have that opportunity and that you go out and do cool stuff like that! Make sure you post pictures and stuff when you get back K? By the way...is it true that your girlfriend is only 19 years old?? You know that's breaking the rule right?
